David, please invite your members to our upcoming lecture. The hybrid meeting last month was off to a rocky start with a system failure at the venue that could not be resolved. After a hotspot was set up with a staff cell phone, the folks still hanging in there could switch to GoogleMeet. Glad some of your group were among them! The next two meetings will be just via Zoom.

You are invited to the Rochester Academy of Science Mineral Section meeting on Tuesday, October 25 at 7 pm EDT via Zoom. Geologist David Joyce will be speaking to us from Canada about collecting in the Grenville geological province. Join us and learn about the mineral treasures to be found in bedrock over 1 billion years old!

The Presentation: “Collecting in the Ontario Grenville Geological Province”
The Central Metasedimentary Belt within the Grenville Geological Province of the Canadian Shield has many excellent places to collect mineral crystals. This region is in the eastern-central area of Ontario, north of Lake Ontario. The presentation showcases locations that are accessible, the minerals found there, and the techniques used to collect them. You will see exceptional specimens of zircon, titanite, fluorapatite, phlogopite and amphibole supergroup minerals.
